
Dr. Imre Lengyel, Ph.D. is a Professor of Translational Ophthalmology at the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine, Queen’s University Belfast. His main research area is translational medicine of the eye. Together with his research team, he focuses on age-related macular degeneration, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and Down syndrome. His studies particularly examine how diet, especially diets that modify trace element levels, influences the development and progression of these diseases.
For his research, he was awarded the British Society for Immunology Prize in April 2023.
